Donation & Refund Policy| Prerit Welfare Foundation
Welcome to Prerit Welfare Foundation info@preritwelfarefoundation.org

Our commitment to donors

Every donation to Prerit Welfare Foundation is a voluntary act of trust. This policy explains how we receive donations, when receipts are issued, how donations are used and in which situations a donation can be refunded.

How you can donate

Online

When online donation is available, donate on the Donate page or on a campaign page. Payments are processed securely by our payment gateway, Razorpay, using UPI, cards, net banking or other methods offered in the checkout. Your card and UPI details are never seen or stored by the foundation.

Offline

Bank transfers and cheques are accepted only to the bank details published by the foundation on the Donate page. Never transfer money to a personal account or to account details sent to you by phone, WhatsApp, email or social media. After an offline donation, please write to us with the date, amount and transaction reference or cheque number so that we can record it.

Who can donate

Unless an FCRA registration is shown on our NGO Details page, the foundation cannot accept foreign contributions under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. We can therefore accept donations only from Indian citizens, including Indian citizens living abroad who give from their own funds through Indian bank accounts, cards or UPI. We cannot accept donations from foreign nationals (including OCI card holders), foreign companies, foreign trusts or any other foreign source. Even when an FCRA registration is listed, foreign contributions can be received only in our designated FCRA bank account, so please contact us first. A foreign contribution received by mistake will be returned to the original payment method.

Verification and receipts

  • An online donation is treated as received only after the payment gateway confirms the payment and our system verifies it. Pending or failed payments are not counted.
  • A receipt is issued for every verified donation. It is emailed to you and, if you have an account with the same email address, it is available in your dashboard.
  • Offline donations are receipted after the amount is received in the foundation's bank account and reconciled.
  • Please enter your name, email address and - if you need a tax receipt - your PAN and address correctly. A receipt can be corrected if you contact us promptly.

Tax benefits

A deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act is available only if the foundation holds a valid 80G registration. When it does, the registration number is shown on the NGO Details page and printed on your receipt, and your PAN is required. If no 80G registration is listed, no tax benefit should be assumed. Tax benefits are subject to the rules and limits of the Income Tax Act. Cash donations above ₹2,000 do not qualify for deduction under Section 80G. The deduction is claimed on the basis of the Form 10BE certificate that the foundation issues after filing its statement of donations in Form 10BD, so please give your PAN when donating.

How donations are used

  • Campaign donations are used for the purpose described on the campaign page.
  • General donations are used where the need is greatest across our programmes - education, healthcare, women empowerment, environment, skill development and relief work.
  • A reasonable part of a donation may support costs that are directly needed to deliver a programme, such as materials, transport and coordination.
  • Totals shown on the website include verified donations only, and we publish campaign updates and utilisation reports to show how funds are used.

If a campaign is over- or under-funded

If a campaign receives more than it needs, or its need ends early (for example, relief is no longer required), the remaining funds are used for the closest related purpose - such as the same type of support in the same area, or the programme the campaign belongs to. We explain this on the campaign page or in its utilisation report.

If a campaign raises less than its goal, we use the funds received for the campaign's purpose at the scale that is possible, may combine them with other funding for the same purpose, and report what was done. If a campaign cannot go ahead at all, the funds are used for the closest related purpose and this is explained in an update. If you would prefer otherwise, please contact us.

Refunds

Donations are generally not refundable, because they are applied to programmes once received. We will, however, refund:

  • duplicate payments - the same donation charged more than once;
  • erroneous donations - for example, a wrong amount entered by mistake or a technical error during payment;
  • unauthorised transactions - a payment made without the account holder's permission;
  • donations from a foreign source that we are not permitted to accept.

Please report the problem as soon as possible, preferably within 30 days of the transaction, so that we can check it with the payment gateway. Approved refunds are made to the original payment method through the payment gateway; we do not refund in cash or to a different account. The time the amount takes to reach you depends on your bank and the payment method. Any receipt issued for a refunded donation is cancelled.

How to request a refund

Write to us through the Contact Us page or the Grievance Redressal page with:

  • your name, email address and mobile number;
  • the date and amount of the donation;
  • the payment or receipt reference, and the reason for the request.

We will acknowledge your request, check the transaction with the payment gateway and let you know the outcome.

Failed payments

If money was debited but the payment did not complete, it is usually reversed automatically by your bank or the payment gateway. If it does not reach your account within the period your bank mentions, contact us with the date, amount and the reference shown by your bank or UPI app and we will help you check it. Please do not repeat a payment several times without checking whether the earlier one succeeded.

Privacy and anonymous donations

Donor details are kept confidential and used as described in our Privacy Policy. You may choose to donate anonymously so that your name is not shown on the website; we still keep your details for the receipt and our legal records.
