About the programme

From data to understanding

Data skills are useful in almost every field today. This programme helps learners take their first structured steps in Python, data analysis and machine learning.

Sessions move from the basics - what data is, how to clean and explore it - to building simple models and explaining their results honestly. Practical exercises use open, public datasets, never anyone's personal data.

The aim is understanding, not just running code: participants learn to ask the right questions of data, spot misleading charts and communicate findings clearly.

  • Teach the fundamentals of Python for data work
  • Build skills in cleaning, analysing and visualising data
  • Introduce machine learning concepts through simple, practical models
  • Encourage responsible, privacy-respecting use of data
What we cover

Topics & activities

Sessions are planned around these themes. Each event page lists exactly what a session covers.

Python for beginners

Variables, loops, functions and notebooks - the essentials for data work.

Working with data

Collecting, cleaning and organising data with spreadsheets and Python libraries.

Data visualisation

Charts that tell the truth: choosing the right chart and avoiding misleading ones.

Data ethics and privacy

Consent, anonymisation and fairness when working with data about people.

Upcoming

Upcoming programmes

Dates, venues, modes and registration status are updated as sessions are scheduled.

New Machine Learning & Data Science sessions will be announced here — register your interest and we will let you know.

Completed

Past programmes

Completed sessions with photos, short reports and verified outcomes.

Completed sessions will appear here after they take place, with photos, a short report and outcomes verified by our team.

Eligibility

Who can participate

Each event page states its own eligibility. In general, these sessions welcome:

  • College students from any stream
  • School students in senior classes (with a parent's or guardian's consent)
  • Graduates and job seekers building data skills
  • Working professionals moving into data roles
  • NGO staff and volunteers who handle programme data
  • Teachers who want to introduce data literacy
Outcomes

Benefits & learning outcomes

What participants can expect to take away. Outcomes depend on the session and on regular participation.

Solid foundations

Understand the core ideas behind data science and machine learning.

Hands-on practice

Write and run real code on real, open datasets.

Project experience

Complete small projects that you can explain and build on.

Career awareness

Learn about roles in data and the skills employers look for.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is there a fee to take part?
Each event page shows clearly whether the session is free or has a participation fee. Fees, if any, are never collected through this website. Please do not pay anyone who asks for money in our name without first checking with us.
Who can take part?
Eligibility is listed on each event page - for example the age group, background or number of places. Participants under 18 need the consent of a parent or guardian to register.
Will I receive a certificate?
Certificates are issued only for sessions where the event page confirms it, and only to participants whose attendance is recorded. If an event page does not mention a certificate, please do not expect one.
When and where are the sessions held?
Dates, times and the venue or online details are published on each event page. Joining links for online sessions are shared privately with registered participants by email. If anything changes, registered participants are informed.
How do I register and what happens next?
Choose an open session and fill in the registration form. You receive a confirmation by email. If a session is full it may offer a waiting list, and we contact you if a place becomes available.
Do I need a laptop?
For hands-on sessions a laptop is helpful. The event page says whether you need to bring one and which free software to install beforehand.
