Overview

Every child deserves the chance to learn

In many underserved families, children fall behind in school because of a lack of study material, guidance at home or a quiet place to learn. Adults who missed out on schooling often find everyday tasks – reading a notice, filling a form or managing money – difficult.

Our Education & Literacy programme brings learning closer to these families. Volunteers and educators run literacy drives and small community learning circles, help children keep up with school, and make sure that the cost of books and stationery does not keep anyone away from learning.

The programme is open to learners of every caste, religion and gender, and all our learning activities are free for learners.

  • Learning gaps that grow if they are not addressed early
  • Families who cannot afford books and stationery
  • First-generation learners with no help with homework
  • Adults, especially women, who want to learn to read and write
Education & Literacy

What we do

Practical, community-based activities that help learners of every age build confidence with reading, writing and numbers.

Literacy drives

Community-based drives that help children and adults build basic reading, writing and number skills, with sessions planned around the learners’ daily routine.

Community learning circles

Small groups that meet regularly in the neighbourhood to revise school work, read together and build a reading habit in a safe, friendly space.

Study material distribution

Notebooks, books, school bags and stationery for children who need them, distributed on the basis of verified need.

School collaboration & support

Working alongside schools and teachers to support students who need extra help, encourage regular attendance and reduce drop-outs.

Volunteer teaching

How we work

Our approach

Every activity follows a simple, accountable process.

  1. 1

    Understand the need

We listen to families, schools and community members to understand where learners are struggling.

  2. 2

    Form learning groups

Learners are grouped by level so that each session matches what they need to learn next.

  3. 3

    Teach & support

Volunteers and educators run regular sessions and provide study material where it is needed.

  4. 4

    Review progress

We follow each learner’s progress with their family and adjust the support so that no one is left behind.
