Our consent & dignity policy

Every story here is published only with the written consent of the person it is about - and of a parent or guardian for anyone under 18. We tell stories in people’s own words, never use images that take away their dignity, change names or details on request and remove a story whenever the person asks us to.

Stories

Stories will be shared here with the consent of the people involved.

Our approach

How we tell stories

Stories help others understand what change looks like. We share them carefully.

Consent first

Written consent is recorded before a story or photo is published, and it can be withdrawn at any time.

In their own words

We share people’s experiences as they tell them, without exaggeration.

Dignity always

No pictures of distress or need used to attract sympathy - people are shown with respect.

Privacy protected

Names, places and faces are changed or hidden when the person prefers it or when it keeps them safe.

The process

How a story is shared

  1. 1

    Conversation

A team member or volunteer listens to the person’s experience.

  2. 2

    Written consent

The person (or guardian) agrees in writing to what will be shared and how.

  3. 3

    Review

The story and photos are shown to the person before publication.

  4. 4

    Publication

Only then is the story published - and it is removed whenever they ask.
