About the programme

Learning technology by building it

Technology is learned best by doing. This programme brings hands-on STEM activities to students and young people, including those who rarely get access to labs or kits.

Sessions introduce the building blocks of robotics and emerging technology - simple circuits, sensors, microcontrollers, motors and basic programming - through small, guided projects. Learners work in groups, test their ideas and learn from mistakes.

Activities are planned with schools, colleges and community centres, and safety comes first: practical sessions are supervised and use age-appropriate equipment.

  • Spark curiosity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics
  • Give hands-on experience with sensors, circuits and simple robots
  • Build problem-solving, teamwork and logical thinking
  • Connect technology with real problems in homes, farms and communities
What we cover

Topics & activities

Sessions are planned around these themes. Each event page lists exactly what a session covers.

Robotics basics

How robots sense, decide and move - with simple builds and demonstrations.

Electronics and sensors

Circuits, sensors and microcontrollers explained through small experiments.

Internet of Things (IoT)

Connecting devices to collect data and automate simple tasks.

Block and text coding

Programming robots and boards step by step, starting with block-based coding.

Upcoming

Upcoming programmes

Dates, venues, modes and registration status are updated as sessions are scheduled.

New Robotics & Emerging Technology sessions will be announced here — register your interest and we will let you know.

Completed

Past programmes

Completed sessions with photos, short reports and verified outcomes.

Completed sessions will appear here after they take place, with photos, a short report and outcomes verified by our team.

Eligibility

Who can participate

Each event page states its own eligibility. In general, these sessions welcome:

  • School students (with a parent's or guardian's consent)
  • College and polytechnic students
  • Teachers who want to bring STEM activities to their classrooms
  • Young people interested in technology careers
  • Schools and community centres looking for STEM activities
  • Beginners - most sessions need no prior experience
Outcomes

Benefits & learning outcomes

What participants can expect to take away. Outcomes depend on the session and on regular participation.

Learning by building

Understand technology by assembling, coding and testing small projects.

Problem-solving skills

Break a problem into steps and try solutions as a team.

Teamwork and communication

Present ideas and work together on group challenges.

Awareness of STEM careers

Learn about study and career paths in emerging technology.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is there a fee to take part?
Each event page shows clearly whether the session is free or has a participation fee. Fees, if any, are never collected through this website. Please do not pay anyone who asks for money in our name without first checking with us.
Who can take part?
Eligibility is listed on each event page - for example the age group, background or number of places. Participants under 18 need the consent of a parent or guardian to register.
Will I receive a certificate?
Certificates are issued only for sessions where the event page confirms it, and only to participants whose attendance is recorded. If an event page does not mention a certificate, please do not expect one.
When and where are the sessions held?
Dates, times and the venue or online details are published on each event page. Joining links for online sessions are shared privately with registered participants by email. If anything changes, registered participants are informed.
How do I register and what happens next?
Choose an open session and fill in the registration form. You receive a confirmation by email. If a session is full it may offer a waiting list, and we contact you if a place becomes available.
Do participants need their own kit or laptop?
Not usually. If a session needs participants to bring a device or material, the event page says so in advance.
