About this day

International Volunteer Day, designated by the United Nations in 1985, is observed on 5 December to recognise volunteers and the difference they make to their communities.

How you can take part

  • Give a few hours a month to a cause you care about.
  • Thank the volunteers who support your community.
  • Sign up to volunteer with a registered organisation near you.

Organise an awareness activity with us

Schools, colleges, resident welfare associations and community groups can plan a talk, drive or campaign around this day with our volunteers.
