About this day

National Girl Child Day has been observed in India on 24 January since 2008 to promote the rights of girls - their education, health and nutrition - and to end discrimination against them.

How you can take part

  • Support a girl's education - books, fees, a bicycle or a mentor can make the difference.
  • Speak out against child marriage and gender discrimination.
  • Celebrate the achievements of girls in your family and community.

Organise an awareness activity with us

Schools, colleges, resident welfare associations and community groups can plan a talk, drive or campaign around this day with our volunteers.
